Horizontal drilling is not new in the US. Early examples date back to the 20's and 30's in a rudimentary form called deviated drilling. The most important advance however was in the 1970's when downhole drilling motors were first used. The science of directional or horizontal drilling has reached a peak in that we can now successfully drill long-reach laterals in excess of 25,000 feet horizontally, when appropriate.

This highly developed science of drilling horizontally coupled with the recent advances in multi stage hydraulic fracturing has created tremendous amounts of recoverable reserves both in areas where reserves were not known to exist, as well as in areas thought to have depleted utilizing older completion techniques. One of the best examples of this is the Austin Chalk, which was drilled horizontally in the 80's and 90's. The Austin chalk in Texas lies right on top of a formation called the Eagle Ford, which in the 80's was believed not to be productive because it was primarily a shale formation. With the advances in hydraulic fracturing, the Eagle Ford Shale has become one of the hottest onshore plays of the past couple of years because of its productivity utilizing these techniques

These technologies, while well-known and highly developed have not been utilized universally. Osage will participate in the global expansion of these extraction techniques and the increased rates of return that they engender by applying them in either overlooked or underestimated areas and by being an early mover in those areas.

The three members of the Company's senior management team bring together a combination of capital markets and oil and natural gas exploration, development and production experience which will be highly leverageable to the future development of its existing operations domestically and internationally.
